Engaging in the PFC Barefoot Challenge humanizes the issue of youth

homelessness while raising awareness through conversation and funds

to support youth in the classroom, through The Upstream Project.

Not everyone can push a shopping cart across Canada but you can take the PFC Barefoot Challenge to support Canadian youth. I invite you now, shed your shoes, text your donation and challenge a friend.

Together in our own way we can walk a mile without our shoes and make a difference.

On a cold rainy day in December 1989 I was collecting cans and bottles from dumpsters using my shopping cart, I was about to hit “rock bottom”. Tired and desperate I sold the boots off my feet for $10 to support my drug habit.  I found myself bootless walking the streets of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside hopeless with nowhere to turn.  It was the last straw and something in me finally snapped.  I cried out for help and made a promise that if my life ever turned around I would do something to pay it forward.

I never forgot my promise to pay if forward. That’s what The Push for Change is all about. The opportunity to engage Canadians, share my story, raise money and awareness so that other young people can avoid the perils of homelessness and despair.
