Group Promises

Make a Group Promise

What if by making one small promise your organization could change someone’s life?

It’s ridiculous to ask such a rhetorical question.  But the truth is social shift happens when many people do small things towards change.

Kaizen is a Japanese philosophy that teaches us the power of small incremental constant change. Taking small steps over long periods of time lead to success.  It was from this philosophy that we successfully walked 9064 KM across Canada. (11,375,000 steps!)

What was amazing about this campaign was not so much the walk across Canada but how so many other organizations, businesses and groups pledged support along the way.

What ultimately made the campaign so successful was the high level of engagement.  It was the sum of millions of small commitments that created a national movement.

That inspiration lives on today as we continue to ask for support in the form of small promises from groups, businesses and organizations.

The question at hand is “what small promise can we make as a group right now that will help the cause?”

The steps to making a promise are incredibly simple:

  1. Make a promise

Whether it’s activism, an awareness campaign, fundraising, a sleep out, or a physical challenge anyone can make one small commitment.

Choose what promise your group has decided they can make and then declare that promise publicly.

  1. Share your promise

Register your promise on our #ipromiseto platform and share that promise with friends, co workers and family through social media.

Encourage and challenge others to do the same.

  1. Follow through on your promise

The most important part of the promise is the follow through.  Completing your commitment builds character, feels good and teaches you valuable lessons about who you are as a person and a team.

  1. Repeat

You don’t have to stop at just one promise you can make as many commitments to as many areas as you want.  The more you give the more you live and experience one of the most extraordinary things in life. You learn that one of the highest callings of being human is to be of service to others.

Caution – Community and Social Responsibility projects like this will lead to higher internal engagement, more productive and purpose driven staff, and better relationships with community and your customers.
